Street Arts Music Returns….LIVE!     Dec 13 2021

It’s been a long journey full of ups and downs but we have made it. Your attendance is requested, please come along and support the homeless, socially isolated and vulnerable in Stratford through the Street Arts Project.

Busking Day!  Oct 10 2021

Today the SAP gang were bringing music to the people of Stratford in a long over-due return of live busking in the town centre. Aimed at raising awareness of Street Arts Project’s core aims and goals, and fund-raising for future projects, the team entertained the locals in a couple of different spots around town. Thanks go to all who participated, and all those who donated. Keep an eye out for more live music from SAP soon! Here’s a few snaps of the fun we had today!

New funding, new theatre, new music!   Sep 30 2021

We are delighted to have been awarded a new grant from Stratford Town Trust.

The funding will enable us to commence theatrical workshops for the homeless and a new inclusive production in February penned by playwright Jackie Lines based on real life stories.

In addition, a new music project due to commence in January and run by Doug Armstrong, will work alongside participants living with poverty, mental health issues and those suffering exclusion and isolation with the town.

Jackie Lines said “Stratford Town Trust have been a huge support to Street Arts Project through previous projects and we are thrilled that they have invested in our future aims and aspirations for 2022. We will be basing the core of our work in the new Fred Winter Centre run by Spring Housing, and at the Playhouse Theatre with whom we have established strong working relationships.”

Throughout lockdown, Street Arts Project have worked tirelessly with the homeless and street community delivering outreach support and ongoing music workshops at the Playhouse Theatre when restrictions were lifted.

A new CD will shortly be released from those workshops and features the songs written by the participants and supported by the group’s professional musicians. Doug says “The quality of work is outstandingly high. The musicians relate brilliantly with those in the group, and we are aware that the need for our projects is even greater now since a year of isolation and lockdown.”

Applicants are invited to participate in the theatrical and music projects and contact can be made through the Street Arts Project website Contact Form or Facebook page.

New Music!   Aug 7 2021

SAP were back in the recording studio recently working on our latest album. Twelve quality songs on the menu, lots of hard work and togetherness. What happens during the project is just as important as the outcome. A great experience for all involved, thanks to the guys, musicians and Paul Johnston at Rhythm Studios.

We’ve got another couple of days recording to come in August plus a concert in November, to which you are all invited . We will of course keep all you groovy people in the loop!

Our thanks to Stratford Town Trust for believing in Street Arts Project. Thanks to all our musicians too. More exciting news to follow soon re new funding.

We’re Banking On A Happy Christmas!  Nov 30 2020

One of our most important partners in the fight to protect and support the homeless and vulnerable is the Stratford FoodBank. They do fantastic work all year round, but as Christmas approaches, there’s always an extra push to make sure no-one misses out on that special time of year. Here’s Doug dropping off the latest supplies from SAP, and if you’d like to do your bit too, you can bring in your own donations at the Methodist Church in Old Town (opposite the Holy Trinity Church) or visit https://stratforduponavon.foodbank.org.uk/ for more info.

Street Arts News Blog Goes Live!  Updated: Nov 28, 2020

Despite the lockdown affecting some of our usual events and activities, the Stratford Arts Project is still very busy behind the scenes, helping those in need and building some exciting plans for the future. So we’re launching this News Blog to help keep you up-to-date with what we’re getting up to, and what to look out for in the near future! If you’d like to leave a comment on these posts, use the Log In button at the bottom to create a free account. This will also allow you to receive email notifications when we post new blogs, if you wish! You can also share these posts on social media by simply clicking the icons underneath.

Looking back, our various fundraising events that DID manage to go ahead in 2020 were very successful. We continued to raise the profile of the organisation and the important work it does, and also brought in much-needed funds from the event proceeds and many generous donations, most notably from ex Stratford Mayor and long-time supporter Cllr Kate Rolfe who donated £3000. Thank you Kate! 🙂 As the weather turns colder and life on the streets gets harder, we’re so thankful to have the means to support our service users with the food, clothing and shelter they need to get by.

On the musical side of things, the songwriting project has been super productive, with new songs finished and recorded, and even music videos to go with them! Plans to grow these fantastic new tracks into a full album are in motion, and you can get sneak-peeks at their new releases on our facebook Page. A big cheer for our muso heros Jack, Wes and Nigel for all they’ve done to teach and encourage our players, and we look forward to seeing them on stage again as soon as restrictions allow.

We hope you’re all staying safe and keeping well, and make sure to keep your eyes peeled for some very exciting new Street Arts projects and collaborations coming SOON!
